Boston是來自於美國麻薩諸塞州波士頓的搖滾樂團，走紅於1970~1980年代。由吉他手兼鍵盤手、作詞作曲及製作人一身的Tom Scholz創團，而該團也被列為經典搖滾名單之一，最為知名的歌曲有 "More Than a Feeling", "Peace of Mind", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Rock and Roll Band", "Smokin'", "Don't Look Back" 及 "Amanda"。在全球共計賣出了超過5000萬張的專輯，包含在美國本土的3100萬張。

Boston 的創團歷經了許多波折和歲月，該團的成員也是幾經波折。從1969 Tom Scholz進入MIT就讀機械工程開始，先認識了吉他手Barry Goudreau及鼓手Jim Masdea。拿到碩士學位之後，把上班的薪水都拿來投入於自家地下室的錄音室，最早的demo是由他和Jim Masdea完成，但一直未受到唱片公司賞識，直到Tom Scholz在錄音室碰到Brad Delp，然後四個人成立了叫做Mother's Milk的樂團(噗..聽名字就知道這團唱片公司不要...)，後來Barry Goudreau又離團解散，剩餘三個人努力了五年終於才在1975年拿到Epic Records(隸屬於CBS)的合約。

但這時經紀公司又堅持不要鼓手Jim Masdea，接著才又加入第二吉他手Barry Goudreau和鼓手Sib Hashian，但在Tom Scholz的堅持下，仍找來Masdea錄製"Rock & Roll Band"這首歌曲，最後把錄製好的Demo帶到LA將Brad Delp的聲音加入，最後由製作人John Boylan混音而成，然後在Boylan和錄音工程師Warren Dewey的建議下，才正式以Boston為該團的團名。但一直都只有Tom Scholz和Brad Delp有正式和Epic Records簽約。
1976 年8月終於發行首張同名專輯【Boston】，並獲得了空前的成功。這張專輯成為美國歷史上銷售最佳的首張專輯，至少賣出了超過1700萬張。1.07的《Peace Of Mind》和2.21的《Long Time》都是出自此張專輯。此張專輯中8首歌，除了兩首歌Brad有一起寫作之外，其餘都由Tom Scholz一手包辦。也因這張專輯於1977年被提名為葛萊美最佳年度新進藝人，而Boston更是歷史上第一個在紐約麥迪遜花園廣場發表首張專輯的樂團。

被困在經紀人(Paul Ahern)問題中間的Tom Scholz花了兩年的時間完成第二張專輯【Don't Look Back】，於1978年8月正式發行。即使和經紀人之間的問題日益嚴重，Tom Scholz仍然對於專輯急著製作發行感到不悅，最終，這張專輯只賣了不到第一張專輯一半的銷售量，約700萬張。伴隨著此張專輯發行的巡迴演唱，仍有不錯的成績，但此時，Tom Scholz和經紀人Paul Ahern的關係已經完全決裂，Tom Scholz更堅持以他自己的步調開始進行第三張專輯的製作，以求達到自我要求的標準。與此張專輯同名的主打歌《Don't Look Back》就出現在2.22最後兩兄弟蓋上impala後車廂，說出經典台詞"We got a work to do"的橋段中。

接著，因為和前經紀人的合約問題，Tom Scholz建議團員們也許可以考慮自己的單飛事業。吉他手Goudreau和鼓手Hashian及Delp一起合作，於1980年發行了以【Barry Goudreau】為名的專輯，但因其找了與Scholz技術相近的錄音工程師製作，儘管Boston專輯中大部分的吉他聲都是由Scholz演奏，但 CBS行銷部門仍對Goudreau專輯中和Boston有關的吉他聲有意見。即使Scholz反對追究抄襲，但仍造成Epic Records對於Goudreau專輯的宣傳失去了興趣。而Goudreau也於1981年離團。
而當Tom Scholz和Brad Delp進行第三張專輯籌備的同時，CBS卻對Tom Scholz提出了6000萬的法律訴訟，指控Tom Scholz無法照合約上時間如期發行Boston的新專輯。而緩慢冗長的法律訴訟讓整個專輯的製作花了6年之久。而CBS更試圖扣押給予Tom Scholz的版稅，逼迫Tom Scholz屈服於不利的條款下。第一次判決由Tom Scholz勝訴，而Tom Scholz更將樂團簽給MCA Records。
第三張專輯找回了鼓手Jim Masdea一起製作，首先於1984年發行了單曲《Amanda》，此首歌也成為於1986年發行的第三張專輯【Third Stage】的主打歌。【Third Stage】一發就直衝排行榜冠軍，維持連續四周。其單曲《Amanda》亦獲得了告示牌排行榜冠軍。

與CBS耗時7年的官司，最終於1990年4月判決由Tom Scholz勝訴，陪審團判給Tom Scholz數百萬元，賠償其未獲得的版稅即造成的傷害。
1990 年春天，Tom Scholz投入第四張專輯的製作，但Brad Delp因想專心於其他事業而離團求去，此時，Tom Scholz已是Boston最後一個原始成員。但Brad Delp離去前合作的單曲《Walk On》仍成為第四張專輯的主打歌及專輯名稱。離第三張專輯8年之後，第四張專輯【Walk On】才於1994年6月發行，但此張專輯僅獲得告示牌排行榜第7名，不像前三張專輯，並未有單曲進入前五名。

不過Brad Delp又於1994年歸隊。巡迴演唱之後，1997年發行精選集【Greatest Hits】，2002年更嘗試以不同的形式發行了第五張專輯【Corporate America】。
2007年，主唱Brad Delp僅留下"I am a lonely soul"的遺言在家中燒炭自殺。2009年1月【Greatest Hits】以新碟片技術重新發行，最新專輯也可望於2009年發行，不過仍只剩Tom Scholz為原始團員了。
